An OCT is a non-invasive diagnostic technique that gives us an image of the retina. This imagining allows our doctors to see the distinct layers of your retina and to map and measure their thickness. These measurements can help provide treatment and guidance for glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye diseases. We do offer this to all our patients as a baseline screening. This is to see if there are any concerning issues. Anyone with a family history of eye diseases should consider this baseline.
Corneal Topography is a noninvasive imaging technique used to map the surface of the eye. A Corneal Topography can be useful to your doctor in diagnosing corneal diseases, planning for refractive surgeries like LASIK, and even fitting contact lenses.
In Optometry, your field of vision is the entire area a person can see when their eyes are fixated on a certain point. A Visual Field Test is an examination that can detect dysfunction in the eyes’ central or peripheral vision. This test can show blind spots or a lowered response to light and stimuli. This can help your doctor diagnose eye diseases like glaucoma and even show visual responses from brain disorders like strokes or tumors. Visual Field Tests can also asses how eyelid problems like ptosis and drooping lids are affecting vision.
Fundus Photography is a noninvasive imaging technique used to take a colored image of the interior surface of the eye through the use of a microscope attached to a flash-enabled camera. These images are used to diagnose and monitor eye diseases like diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, macular edema, and retinal detachment. Due to the flash of light required for these images, most Fundus Photography requires dilation.
